Each member of the Dzieci ensemble has learned the lines of every part.  The crown passes, player to player, as the question "Who is the king?" assumes more and more potent implications.  "The charm's wound up."

Dzieci (djyeh-chee) is an international experimental theatre ensemble dedicated to revitalizing the medium of theater by restoring its sacred aspect.  Using ritual forms from Native American and Eastern spiritual disciplines, techniques gathered from theater masters Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba and Peter Brook, and an ethic based in Humanistic
Psychology, Dzieci aims to create a theatre equally engaged
in personal transformation and public presentation.

Dzieci is David Bartlett, Megan Bones, Yvonne Brecht, Andrew Eldredge,
Jordon Flato, Golan, Jesse Hathaway, Karen Hatt (Costumer), Elsa Lam,
John Norman (Vocal Coach), Rebecca Sokoll (Assistant Director),
Bob Strock (Music Director) and Matt Mitler (Company Director).
"Dzieci" is the Polish word for "Children."

Jerzy Grotowski on the purpose of art:
 "To free ourselves from the breaks which hold us back, from the lies
about ourselves which we manufacture daily for ourselves and for others;
to destroy the limitations caused by our ignorance and lack of courage;
in short, to fill the emptiness in us: to fulfill ourselves."
